Privacy Policy

Official Umbrella Policy

The authoritative privacy policy for all Specific Industries properties — including Odd Occasions — is maintained at specificindustries.com/privacy. The text below is provided for convenience and flavor; in the event of any conflict, the umbrella policy governs.

1. What We Collect

We collect the minimum information necessary to process your order: name, shipping address, billing details, and a record of which specific occasions you have chosen to acknowledge. We take note of your browsing history only insofar as it reveals which awkward moments resonate most deeply with you. We consider this a feature, not a vulnerability.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to ship your curated gift boxes and to occasionally remind you that other specific occasions exist which you may not have considered. We track which occasions you browse most frequently. This data is used exclusively to judge you internally and to improve our catalog.

3. What We Will Not Do

We will not share your gift selections with the recipient. Unless doing so would be funnier. (We have never exercised this clause, but we reserve the right.) We will not sell your data to greeting card companies, life coaches, or anyone who might use your browsing history to infer the state of your personal relationships.

4. Cookies

Cookies are used to remember which awkward moments you have acknowledged and which gift boxes are in your cart. Deleting cookies does not delete the memory of the occasion. That part is between you and the other person.

5. Occasion Data Retention

We retain a record of your purchases for as long as the specific occasion remains culturally relevant. Given the nature of our products, this is often indefinitely. The guilt from eating someone's labeled lunch does not expire, and neither does our record of you buying a box about it.
